    After more than a decade with my company, where I'd been instrumental in its European expansion, I had an opportunity to agree a redundancy arrangement that coincided with my maternity leave and my own desire for a new challenge. I was ready for a fresh start after years of navigating corporate politics and increasing bureaucracy. What should have felt straightforward became unexpectedly isolating and emotionally draining as the negotiations unfolded.
